Switzerland Flights
June 5-14, 2025
To reach our retreat destination , the village of Pontresina, the starting point is Zurich and then traveling via train to Pontresina.
Switzerland has an efficient, comfortable, clean, and efficient train/rail system. They are part of daily life for the Swiss.
The FIRST item to book and decide upon is your flights to/from Zurich. We anticipate that many of you will add time on the front and back end on your own, but it also may be necessary to add a night on the front and back depending on desired train times and your flight times.
You’ll find many convenient options to Zurich. While you can do initial research on travel engines like Expedia or Orbitz, we HIGHLY recommend that you purchase directly from your chosen airline’s website.
Arriving in ZRH
The MAIN CONSIDERATION for your arrival in ZRH ~ The Bernina Express!
There is a SPECIAL route that we recommend that integrates an exceptional railway: Unesco World Heritage Railway (CLICK HERE) on the last leg from Chur to Pontresina (it’s called The Bernina Express and this train offers several specialized train car with panoramic windows). As our host Anderas says “This is not just getting from A to B, but pure enjoyment.”
This specific train route departs Zurich airport (Zürich Flughafen, Bahnhof) at 11:48am, and arrives Pontresina at 15:33 (3:33pm) (Pontresina Bahnhof), so it will very likely require a night in Zurich pre-retreat (unless your flight arrives by 8am).
Note: Suppose you aren’t attached to the Bernina Express Experience. In that case, there are train routes from Zurich Airport to Pontresina departing on the quarter house (8:15 am - 7:15 pm) - and returning from Pontresina to Zurich Airport with arrivals to the airport as early as 9:44 am. (or you depart Pontresina in Friday night if you have a Saturday morning flight)
Returning Home
We expect most attendees will book a Sunday morning flight (6/15/25) to return to the US unless adding extra time in Europe.
Most return flights to the US are in the morning, meaning that for most, one night in a Zurich hotel is needed.
* If you NEED to catch a flight home on Saturday morning, there is a Friday night train leaving Pontresina at 7:02pm - arriving to Zurich Airport station at 10:44pm. (you would miss the last dinner).
For most of us, we recommend the train departing on Saturday on the Bernina Express at 10:27am for arrival at the airport / airport hotels at 2:12 pm.
Note: The earliest possible departure from Pontresina on Saturday is at 5:42am and 7:02am arriving at Zurich airport at 9:44am and 10:44am. (only suggested for airplane departures from 1pm onward).

We will be traveling out of Minneapolis (MSP) for Zurich (ZRH) departing on Thursday 6/5/25 from at 10a, via Delta Airlines on flight DL1046. Arriving in Zurich at 8:05am on Friday morning (NOTE THE OVERNIGHT TRAVEL!) on flight DL0090.
**This allows for one full day to explore Zurich and get a nights rest in Switzerland before heading out via train on Saturday morning to Pontresina.
We suggest flying home Sunday morning 6/15/25 (due to the Saturday train ride to Zurich arriving at appx. 2:30p ~ a Saturday flight out would need to be after 5:30p). Therefore, we offer departing Sunday morning (6/15/25) at 9:20a from Zurich. If this works for you and you are possibly heading to Minneapolis the flights are DL9280 departing ZRH at 9:20a on Sunday 6/15/25; arriving in MSP at 3:20p via Delta Flight DL0163.

To Secure Your Spot: pay a non-refundable $500 deposit via the Sarah Dippen Yoga website. Once registered by deposit made, unless other arrangements are requested, the balance will be broken down into equal monthly payments leading up to final balance due date. Final balances are due by April 30, 2025.
Refunds and Cancellations: If you wish to cancel your booking you must notify Sarah Dippen Yoga in writing. Refund less deposit available thru January 1, 2025. No refunds after January 1, 2025. In case of cancellation, you may transfer your deposit or your reservation to another person with 1 month advance notice. Due to arrangements made with our travel agency, there can be no exceptions to this policy. Refunds will incur a 10% processing fee.
*Once registered and deposit made, the balance due will be set to charge in equal monthly installments, unless other arrangements are requested.
We recommend that you consider purchasing Travel Insurance. Travel insurance companies like TRAVEL GUARD offer policies that insure your investment in case you need to cancel (including “cancel for any reason” coverages), coverages for expenses incurred due to to weather & travel delays, personal property loss and emergency travel medical. Please review policies carefully to choose the coverage you need.
